Penfolds Winery is located in the famous Barossa Valley region of South Australia and is Australia's most famous and largest winery. It is regarded as a symbol of Australian wine and is known as the aristocrat of the Australian wine industry.

Christopher Rosen Penfolds, the founder of Penfolds Winery, was a young doctor from England who was born in 1811. Dr. Penfolds, the youngest of 11 children in his family, studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London. Like other doctors at the time, he had a firm belief in the medicinal value of wine. In 1844, Dr. Penfolds and his wife immigrated to Australia, bought Margaret Manor in South Australia, and brought some grape vines from southern France to Adelaide, South Australia. At that time, Mrs. Penfolds was responsible for garden management, grape growing and winemaking. The original grape variety was Grenache. The wine brewed from Grenache mainly provided nourishing effects for anemia patients, so Penfolds received the nickname "1844 Never Ends".

In 1845, Dr. Penfolds and his wife planted grape saplings brought from France in Magill, a suburb of Adelaide. To continue the tradition of growing grapes in southern France, they also built a stone house in the middle of the vines. The couple called this small stone house Grange, which means "farm" in English. This is also the origin of the Grange series of Penfolds Winery's most famous wines in the future. This series of wines is known as the King of Australian Wines and one of the twelve top wines in the world. Due to its limited production, it is the favorite of many wine collectors on the market today. It was in that simple stone house that Dr. Penfolds established his medical experiment center and began brewing fortified wine for his patients. As the demand for wine increased, Dr. Penfolds gradually increased the planting area and production of grapes.
By 1870, the Grange vineyard expanded to 60 acres and planted many grape varieties, including Grenache, Verdelho, Mourvedre and Pedro Ximenez. Pedro Ximenez). The winery produces wines including sweet wines, dry red wines and dry white wines, with the main markets being Victoria and New South Wales. In 1880, Mr. Penfolds unfortunately passed away, and his wife Mary took over the winery.
As the business grew, Mary Penfolds managed the winery with her son-in-law Thomas Hyland and cellar manager Joseph Girard. Under the careful management of Mary Penfolds, the scale of the winery is getting bigger and bigger. In the 35 years since the winery was founded, the total output value of Penfolds Winery accounts for 30% of the South Australian wine market. At the same time, Penfolds Winery has 120 acres of grape planting area and is the largest winery in South Australia. Since then, Penfolds has become a household name in Australia. In 1896, Mary, who made great contributions to the Australian wine industry, passed away. Afterwards, her children continued to run the winery until World War II. During this period, Penfolds almost monopolized the entire Australian wine market and reached its peak.
In 2002, Peter Gaugar became the chief winemaker of Penfolds Winery. At this time, Penfolds wine has been sold all over the world and has become one of the brands that people are familiar with. Among the wines released during this period, the 2004 Bin 42 and Bin 60A were of the most outstanding quality. In 2010, Penfolds launched the Penfolds 23 series of red wines made from Pinot for the first time. Penfolds winery's products can meet the needs of all markets, and its style shows the generous national spirit and style of Australia.
For 150 years, Penfolds Winery has maintained its consistent excellent quality and winemaking philosophy. Therefore, to this day, Benfu Winery remains one of the leaders in the Australian wine industry.
