Q: What are the key factors affecting a DRC Montrachet acquisition value? A: Besides the vintage, the most important factor is condition.
- Fill level (ullage): A higher fill level can be consistent with lower exposure to oxygen, but it must be considered with the capsule, closure and provenance.
- Label condition: A clean label without damage, moisture or mould can support buyer confidence, but it does not determine the valuation by itself.
- Original wooden case (OWC): An original case and consecutive bottle numbers can strengthen the provenance record; any value effect remains bottle-specific.
Q: I am a private collector without a merchant invoice. Can I still transact? A: Yes. Private collectors are welcome. If the bottle's identity, condition and provenance can be reviewed satisfactorily, a cash purchase may be considered.
