Detailed Reference
Sell Mouton Wine Buyback Reference
Use the details below as a vintage, rating and demand reference. Final buyback pricing still depends on bottle condition, storage and current market demand.
What makes Mouton so special is not just its First Growth status, but also its unique artistic labels each year. Names like Picasso, Dali, Andy Warhol, and Xu Bing add another layer of discussion and premium to certain vintages in the collector's market.
When reselling Mouton, the vintage, the artist of the label, the condition, and the provenance all need to be considered together. Vintages that generate buzz, such as the 2000 Golden Ram, the perfect-score 2016, and the 2018 Xu Bing label, elicit different buyer responses compared to regular vintages.
Emperor Palace evaluates Mouton as both a wine and a collectible. Poor label preservation can affect its appeal; conversely, original cases and complete provenance can increase confidence in a deal.
Mouton Valuation: More Than Just Scores
Mouton's label culture makes vintage stories very important, so both drinking value and collectible value must be considered during valuation.
| Representative Vintages | 1945, 1982, 1986, 1996, 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2018. |
| Label Factors | Artists, commemorative vintages, and label integrity influence collector interest. |
| Condition Requirements | Scratches, damp stains on the label, and low fill levels will diminish the premium from artistic labels. |
| Batch Advantage | Six or twelve bottles in the original case, with wooden box and outer packaging, are more likely to fetch a good price. |
Preparing Information for Mouton Resale
For Mouton, it is recommended to take clear photos of the entire label, as the label itself is a valuation factor. If you also have Lafite, Latour, Margaux, or Haut-Brion, you can send them all to us for a combined quote.
- Avoid reflections when photographing the front label; the artistic design must be fully visible.
- Provide additional information such as vintage, capacity, and whether it's in its original case.
- If the label has damage or stains, please photograph them accurately to avoid discrepancies upon physical inspection.

Local Valuation and Transaction Reminders
For Hong Kong red wine resale, the most important thing is not just naming a famous wine, but ensuring both buyer and seller understand the transaction risks. Emperor Palace will first make a preliminary assessment based on photos, and then arrange a physical inspection if suitable; if the wine's condition matches the photos, the quoted price will generally not be significantly altered without cause on site.
Collectors in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories, and Macau can first inquire with photos. For high-value famous estates, old vintages, or original cases, we recommend providing provenance documents and storage information; for mixed batches of wines, we will first categorize high-value wines, circulating wines, and wines not currently suitable for resale, to provide a clearer overall valuation.
If you want to know the approximate resale price, you can send photos of the front label, back label, bottle neck fill level, capsule, and original case information to Emperor Palace. The more complete the information, the closer the estimated price will be to the final transaction price; if you are unsure about the vintage or authenticity, you can also send photos for our preliminary assessment.
