Besides Lafite, what other red wines are suitable for gifting?

"Bring me a bottle of '82 Lafite." This line, spoken by Chow Yun-fat in the movie God of Gamblers, instantly propelled Lafite to the pinnacle of recognition in China due to its classic status. At the same time, this iconic line also became a popular phrase for people to show off in their daily lives.

Thus, Lafite gradually became a symbol of wealth. Since then, many people, upon seeing any wine with the word "Lafite" on it, instantly consider it "high-end."

However, in Bordeaux, the "King of Wines" is not Lafite, which ranks first among the five First Growths, but rather Château Pétrus (Petrvs) in the Pomerol village on the Right Bank of Bordeaux.

Unlike the grand or exquisite château architecture of Bordeaux's Left Bank, the main building of Château Pétrus appears to be a rustic, simple, and clean "farmhouse," quietly guarding the vineyards.
Yet, it is in such a humble place that one of the eight great châteaux of Bordeaux was born, writing a legendary story of Bordeaux wine.
As the ultimate example of winemakers pursuing perfection, Pétrus is meticulously crafted without regard for cost. Its annual production is only about 4,500 cases, less than 1/6 of Lafite's, making it a favorite of royal families across Europe. In 1947, it became the exclusive wine served at the wedding banquet of Queen Elizabeth II.
Pétrus has always adhered to traditional winemaking methods. The current owner, Christian Moueix, once declared, "Most Bordeaux châteaux today use automated production and control methods, and their wines are very consistent. I have no comment on that, for a simple reason: Pétrus is like a handmade Rolls-Royce."

The severe cold of 1991 caused a significant reduction in grape yields. Fearing that this would affect the quality of the wine, Pétrus decided not to produce any wine that year, demonstrating their pursuit of quality.
Compared to Lafite, which has been driven to sky-high prices by Chinese buyers in recent years, the price of Pétrus has remained relatively stable, with an international average price of 30,000 RMB, making it a good choice for investment, collection, and gifting.
