Petrus is a defining Pomerol estate, producing its wine from almost 100% Merlot grown on distinctive blue-clay soils and in very limited quantities. The wine is rich and full, with silky tannins and substantial ageing potential, and has longstanding international collector demand.
1982 Petrus valuation considerations
1982 is considered a leading Right Bank Bordeaux vintage and is widely rated highly. Petrus from a vintage of this standing generally has good market liquidity, and well-preserved bottles may receive stronger offers.
Regardless of the vintage's reputation, the bottle's physical condition remains central to the valuation. The fill level, integrity of the label and capsule, original case and provenance documentation can all affect the offer.
Main factors in a Petrus valuation
- Bottle format and quantity: Large formats and complete cases are often more sought after and may be valued more favourably.
- Storage conditions: Wine kept in a temperature-controlled cellar and moved infrequently is generally easier to assess with confidence.
- Provenance: Purchase invoices, the original wooden case, and cellar or merchant records strengthen the provenance record.
- Bottle condition: Fill level, any sunken cork, and the integrity of the capsule and label are especially important for older vintages.
For a full case or several bottles, provide a complete list and photographs at the outset. Different vintages and conditions can be assessed separately. Once agreed, handover can take place at the shop or by collection in Hong Kong or Macau. WhatsApp / WeChat: 96737259.
