Dibao Wine’s Three-Step Buyback Process
The process is designed to be straightforward, and in most cases you do not need to leave home:
Step One: Send Photographs
Use your phone to photograph the wines you want to sell, including the front label, capsule and fill level, then send them by WhatsApp. An initial indication may be available after photographs and details are complete and an assessor is available; timing is confirmed for the individual enquiry.
Step Two: Arrange a Visit
If the quotation is acceptable, arrange a time. You may bring the wines to the shop or request collection. Anti-shock packaging and temperature-control measures are used during transport.
Step Three: Inspect and Settle
After physical inspection, verification and agreement on the final price, payment may be made in cash or by bank transfer; timing and method are confirmed for the individual transaction. The process is kept confidential.
Four Factors That Affect the Buyback Value of Older Wine
The buyback value of fine estate wine is not fixed, and storage condition can make a substantial difference. Inspectors focus particularly on four factors:
Fill Level—wine slowly evaporates through the cork as it ages. An older bottle whose fill remains in the neck will generally be valued more highly than one whose level has fallen to the shoulder.
Label Condition—minor mould can indicate long-term storage in a humid cellar and is not necessarily negative, but severe tears or staining that obscures the text will affect resale value.
Capsule and Cork—the capsule should show no sign of rotation or removal. A visibly raised cork, which may indicate heat expansion, or a sunken cork can signal a compromised seal and possible oxidation.
Original Packaging (OWC)—wines with their original wooden case can have materially greater collectible value than loose bottles.
