Romanée-Conti is DRC's flagship monopole, produced in very limited quantities and rarely seen on the market. It is widely regarded as an important expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Main factors in a Romanée-Conti valuation

• Provenance and packaging: Invoices, the original wooden case (OWC) and cellar records strengthen the provenance file; a complete case is preferable where available.
• Bottle condition: Check the fill level, whether the cork has sunk, and whether the capsule or label is damaged or mouldy.
• Storage conditions: Wine kept in a temperature-controlled cellar with few moves generally has a clearer condition history.
• Bottle format and quantity: Large formats and complete cases often attract stronger market interest and may support a higher valuation.

1987 Romanée-Conti valuation considerations

1987 was a more challenging or lower-yield Burgundy vintage. Leading estates could still maintain quality, but each bottle of Romanée-Conti requires an individual assessment based on its physical condition and the market for that year.

More specifically, the valuation depends on the physical condition and provenance rather than the vintage alone. Clear photographs of the front and back labels, capsule and fill level, together with the original case and purchase records, support a more accurate valuation.
