Petrus lies in the heart of Pomerol in Bordeaux and is managed by the Moueix family. It is known for a blend close to 100% Merlot and annual production of approximately 4,500 cases. Although Pomerol has no official classification, Petrus has gained strong international market recognition.

Bordeaux performed moderately overall in 2012, while Petrus retained a basic level of quality under difficult conditions. Any valuation still requires inspection of the bottle and its condition.
