Petrus is a defining Pomerol estate, producing its wine from almost 100% Merlot grown on distinctive blue-clay soils and in very limited quantities. The wine is rich and full, with silky tannins and substantial ageing potential, and has longstanding international collector demand.
1999 Petrus valuation considerations
For Petrus, 1999 is a solid vintage. The valuation mainly depends on the bottle's physical condition and current market demand.
A vintage's reputation is only a general guide; bottle condition, provenance and storage records are central to the final valuation. Fill level, cork position, label and capsule condition, the original case and invoices can all directly affect the assessment.
Main factors in a Petrus valuation
- Bottle format: Magnums and other large formats are scarce and may attract an additional premium.
- Provenance and packaging: Invoices, the original wooden case (OWC) and cellar records support provenance; an intact full case is preferable.
- Bottle condition: Fill level, any sunken cork, and the integrity of the capsule and label are especially important for older vintages.
- Storage environment: Long-term storage in a temperature-controlled professional cellar, with few moves, supports a clearer condition assessment.
For a full case or several bottles, provide a complete list and photographs at the outset. Different vintages and conditions can be assessed separately. Once agreed, handover can take place at the shop or by collection in Hong Kong or Macau. WhatsApp / WeChat: 96737259.
