As a renowned Pomerol estate, Petrus is known for blue-clay parcels and a wine made almost entirely from Merlot. It has a rich, opulent style and silky texture; although Pomerol was not included in the 1855 classification, Petrus has substantial international collector demand.
2001 Petrus valuation considerations
2001 is generally regarded as a strong Right Bank Bordeaux vintage, with balanced wines and broad market acceptance. Demand for Petrus is often steady, while any offer depends on bottle condition and provenance.
The final offer depends on the bottle's physical condition and provenance rather than the vintage alone. Clear photographs of the front label, back label, capsule and fill level, together with the original case and purchase records, support a more accurate valuation.
Before offering Petrus for sale, check the following
- Storage environment: Long-term storage in a temperature-controlled professional cellar, with few moves, supports a clearer condition assessment.
- Physical condition: Fill level, capsule fit and label integrity are the first points reviewed in a valuation.
- Provenance: Purchase invoices, the original wooden case, and cellar or merchant records strengthen the provenance record.
- Bottle format: Magnums and other large formats are scarce and may attract an additional premium.
For a full case or several bottles, provide a complete list and photographs at the outset. Different vintages and conditions can be assessed separately. Once agreed, handover can take place at the shop or by collection in Hong Kong or Macau. WhatsApp / WeChat: 96737259.
