Montrachet Grand Cru is an exceptionally scarce DRC white wine made from Chardonnay. Its very limited production, rich body, layered complexity and considerable ageing potential support strong collector interest.
Main factors affecting the value of Montrachet
- Bottle format: Magnums and other large formats are scarce and may attract an additional premium.
- Bottle condition: Check the fill level, whether the cork has sunk, and whether the capsule or label is damaged or mouldy.
- Storage conditions: Long-term temperature-controlled cellar storage with few moves supports a clearer assessment of the bottle's condition.
- Provenance and packaging: Invoices, the original wooden case (OWC) and cellar records strengthen the provenance file; a complete case is preferable where available.
2009 Montrachet valuation considerations
2009 is widely regarded as a strong vintage for Montrachet, with notable body, structure and ageing potential. Bottles with clear provenance attract particular interest.
